For Media Professionals

It’s no secret that the Media Industry is cut-throat. Long working hours are the norm, productivity demands are high and only the most committed climb the ladder. However, emerging scientific research is proving that this unconventional working environment is wreaking havoc on our bodies in a multitude of ways. High stress levels alone have been attributed to over half of working days lost whilst rising anxiety levels have been strongly linked to lack of sleep, trouble concentrating and comfort-eating. Throw into the mix irregular hours, lack of job security and ever-changing colleagues and it’s no wonder countless are choosing to leave the industry.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that the majority of those I’ve worked closely with in TV Production have revealed they have some form of health condition which, as a health coach, I can almost guarantee is attributed to the job. IBS, skin conditions, fatigue, anxiety, hormonal disruption, muscle and joint pain are just a few that I’ve come across.

However, it doesn’t have to be this way. Equipped with the right knowledge and clear goals, I believe it’s possible to thrive in the career that you love. The more we take control of our own health, the better we can improve workplace wellbeing for generations to come.
